Low Voltage O&M Course

The "Low Voltage System Operation and Maintenance Course" organised by the Faculty of Engineering Technology stands as a significant initiative for students of Electrical Engineering Technology, particularly those in their final year. This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of low voltage system handling and maintenance, a pivotal aspect in electrical engineering. Spearheaded by the primary trainer, Ir. Ts. Ammar from Ares Energy Sdn. Bhd., a highly proficient electrical engineer specializing in high voltage areas like 33 kV and 132 kV, the course brings immense value to students. Having an experienced engineer of his calibre offers students the advantage of practical training and the latest insights within this industry.

Enhancement of Technical and Safety Aspects in Low Voltage Systems

This course was conducted over two sessions: the first on 10-11 July 2023 and the second on 12-13 July 2023. This course was attended by 17 final-year students of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical Power) program under the Faculty of Engineering Technology (BNE, FTK) at UTHM Pagoh Campus. The training took place at the Industrial Installation Technology Laboratory in Block B, UTHM Pagoh Campus.

Throughout this course, students were introduced to fundamental concepts and practical skills in the operation and maintenance of low voltage systems. They delved into grounding systems, electrical safety, equipment selection and installation, as well as routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability of low voltage systems. With a strong emphasis on practical application, students had the opportunity to engage in simulation exercises and gain valuable hands-on experience in handling and maintaining low voltage installations. The course significantly enhanced their grasp of the technical and safety aspects crucial in Electrical Engineering Technology, effectively preparing them to emerge as competent engineers in this field upon graduation.
